A Welcome Change
K. Radhakumar *
Good morning.
How are you?
I am fine, thank you.
And you?
Ta-ta for now.
Day after day
The same road
The same work, etc.
I hate living the same day
Day after day.
Paris by night.
You've never been to Paris!
You haven't lived.
One day
I want to walk out of this small house
And never come back.
Your patient
Hospital admission
Medicine Ward
Bed No 13 is vacant.
There were ten births
And three deaths
At the hospital yesterday.
No vacant look, please.
A crowded market.
One looks round
With a vacant expression
And one –
Where are you?
Here I am.
In my study.
What? I can't hear you.
Cut off from the outside world?
Why lock in your study
On such a sunny day?
I am glad I wake to a clear morning.
