A Poem As Beautiful As You Are
Jodha Chandra Sanasam *
Now the days,
the harbinger of spring, are around;
this early morning
I walked out of my house;
I saw the Cheengkhei Lairembee angel
in her golden glow so enchanting;
and once again
my long cherished desire got heightened.
I know
there shall never ever be another day
for me to be near you again.
I'm losing my mettle,
the doubt is growing further and further
if I could ever have the skill to write a poem
close enough to your beauty?
You know
you yourself have remained
a poem eternal for me.
Yet, no poem,
as lovely and beautiful as you are,
has come out of my pen.
It's here the dispute stands
how you can ever become my poem.
Should I call it my craving
but it's driving me nuts
for writing a poem on my own
sweet and beautiful as you are.
The day I write a poem
as beautiful as you are
I stop writing poems any further.
