A Bequeath for You
Jodha Chandra Sanasam *
The angel of lullaby
again today, she drove me out
from her laps soft,
as my heart's demand persisted obstinate
and as my eyes refused to close.
My love!
Don't emerge out today
'cause I don't intend
for the angel of sleep
to hear our tête-à-tête.
It's not that I'm weary of you
I find rest in your company
and that brings fulfillment to me ever,
you know it
but
don't you come out today.
I am in a state of self-pity right now;
to tell you the truth
it's been pretty long since;
I find none, including the Celestial Being,
to console me of my fitful sorrows.
As I walk down on my memory lane,
I know, even you jeer at me sometimes
my eyes well up with tears then;
I've been hiding it from you
for I don't intend
to let our tryst be a tempest stormy.
I don't know why I want them
to appear in front of me today
Nongpok Panthoibee, Moirang Thoibee,
Yaithing Konu, Nura Shanthalembee,
Ingallei, Yairipok Thambalnu,
who else left? O yes, Madhabee, Jehera,
or Irom Sharmila!
I am not sure
I want to ask them about love!
No, they didn't appear, my love;
So I've decided I'll ask you
but not today, babe;
don't try to answer me today
don't you emerge out today.
My love!
You're one
who has ever been chatting with me,
always in propinquity with me!
Let me think over for now
what I should bequeath you with,
for it seems I am quitting everything today.
