ASI seeks help in preserving archaeological heritage of northeast

At the 150th year celebrations of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), its director general Gautam Sengupta sought collaboration and co-operation from universities, academicians, and state governments for preservation, protection and maintenance of ancient monuments and archeological sites in the seven northeast states.
A scholar of art and archaeology of the northeast, Sengupta pointed out though the northeast has some similarities with the Gangetic and peninsular India, this part of the country is very different from the rest of the country, where there is no homogeneity among various states.
