AIDS panel turns hurdle in HIV treatment
Seven Sisters Post | Yumnam Rupachandra, Imphal (July 15):
The state Aids Clinical Experts Panel (SACEP) set up to facilitate people living with HIVs (PLHIV) to gain access to the state-controlled HIV drug, Antiretroviral Therapy (ART), has turned out to be a major bottleneck — at least in Manipur. The SACEP, consisting of eight clinical experts, are set up in 2008 to oversee the administration of 1st line ART and 2nd line ART. However, red tapism and delay in taking decision by the panel has added to the woes of PLHIVs in accessing the ready medication.
