60 male vendors evicted from all-woman market
Seven Sisters Post | Yumnam Rupachandra | Imphal (Aug 25):
At least sixty male vendors who had managed to snuggle up to the historic all-women market of Nupi Keithel at the Khwairmband Bazar were evicted by volunteer of the civil organization the FRIENDS in a specific drive conducted by the organization.
The Nupi Keithel, or women bazaar also called Ima market (mothers market), along with three all-women markets in the heart of the capital Imphal is said to be one of the largest all women market in the south East Asia. However male vendors have been observed for sometime in the women-dominated market and drew criticism from the public.
