500 Manipur-bound vehicles stranded due to Kohima blockade
Seven Sisters Post | Yumnam Rupachandra | Imphal (July 8):
Over 500 Manipur-bound vehicles including 15 passenger buses have been stranded in Nagaland following a road block at Kohima by some Naga organizations over hijacking of a Nagaland vehicle by some people from Manipur.
The vehicles are detained at Lalmati in Nagaland by Nagaland police who are not taking the risk of letting the vehicles through because of the tension. The blockade which began on Saturday is taking severe toll on the passengers who are at the fag end of their journey and low on cash.
The Nagaland police is said to have warned them of the tension and said they could escort them but would not be able to do anything if the mobs attack. “Under the circumstances we are unable to proceed”, said a driver.
