4 NE states join anti-NCTC chorus

Despite the strident opposition of even two Congress-ruled states of Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh against the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) at the chief ministers’ conference on Saturday, Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi stood out as the staunch supporter of the formation of the highly controversial NCTC as “an important module for countering terrorism” in the country by the Centre and state governments.
The crucial meeting on NCTC ended in a deadlock in New Delhi. Along with Tripura and Nagaland two more NE states, including Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur, join hands with 12 state governments across the country in vigorously opposing the formation of the new module to counter terrorism.
