43 Bangladeshi nationals held in Manipur

About 43 Bangladesh nationals were on Thursday rounded up by Manipur Police during counter insurgency operations. Police said the Bangladeshi nationals were living in Muslim dominated areas at Lilong and Hatta. Police said about 146 persons who were not able to provide adequate information were also rounded up.
The state government had passed a resolution in the Assembly to introduce Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Manipur as one third of its population is believed to be illegal immigrants. However, the central government has refused to introduce the ILP in Manipur.
