18 tribal villages in Manipur enjoys dual voting rights
Nagaland Post | Imphal, Jul 28
At least 18 tribal villages bordering with valley districts were enjoying dual voting rights as genuine voters so far as elections to the local bodies were concerned, a case of overlapping of district delimitations in Manipur.
18 tribal villages located within the jurisdictions of revenue districts of Imphal East and Thoubal has used their franchise in the elections to Autonomous District Council (ADC) in Sadar Hills of Senapati district held in May, 2010. However, voters of these villages will also be allowed to cast their votes in the elections to gram panchayats which were extended only in the four valley districts of the state, Thoubal, Imphal East, Imphal West and Bishnupur districts.
