A 100-meter long green salad - prepared, displayed and then consumed at the ongoing third Chinjak Food Festival in the city - is set to enter the Limca Book of Records. Fifteen volunteers from Innovative Youth Society (IYS) and Nahakpam Foods and Beverages prepared the salad within 90 minutes, before placing it on dozens of banana leaves neatly arranged over 40 tables sprawling over two rows.
A delegation of the of Manipur tourism department, headed by commissioner K K Chhetry, were official witnesses. "We have documented the whole process of preparing the green salad and the same will be sent to Limca Book of Records," he said.
Khuraijam Athouba, managing director of the festival, said: "All the ingredients - cucumber, cabbage, tomato, water melon, onion, coriander, cheese, mint leaves and added spices - weighed more than 700kg. Apart from getting our achievement incorporated in the Limca Book of Records, we also hope that this feat will promote tourism in Manipur."
