Nongthombam Biren Singh of BJP sworn-in as new CM of Manipur , March 15 2017

Shri Nongthombam Biren Singh, leader of the BJP Manipur Legislature Wing, was today sworn-in as the new Chief Minister of Manipur in a glittering ceremony at the Raj Bhavan. Shri N. Biren Singh is the first BJP Chief Minister of Manipur. Hon’ble Governor of Manipur Dr. Najma Heptulla administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new Chief Minister along with 8 (eight) Council of Ministers.

Shri N. Biren Singh elected from the Heingang Assembly Constituency took his oath in Manipuri. Shri Y. Joykumar Singh from Uripok A/C was sworn-in as Deputy Chief Minister and took his oath in English.

Other Council of Ministers who were sworn-in today are -
Th. Bishwajit Singh (BJP) from Thongju A/C, took oath in Manipuri;
L. Jayentakumar Singh (NPP) from Keishamthong A/C, took oath in English;
Karam Shyam (LJP) from Langthabal A/C, took oath in Manipuri;
Letpao Haokip (NPP) from Chandel A/C, took oath in English;
N. Kayisii (NPP) from Tadubi A/C, took oath in English;
Th. Shyamkumar (INC) from Andro A/C, took oath in English and
Losii Dikho (NPF) from Mao A/C, took oath in English respectively.

Speaking to media persons after the swearing-in ceremony, Shri N. Biren Singh thanked the people of the State for their valuable mandate to form a new government. He said the top priority of his government is lifting the economic blockade as soon as possible.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri. Y. Joykumar Singh said removal of economic blockade will be the topmost agenda. The first and foremost task of the new government will be preparing the state budget. Cabinet Minister Th. Bishwajit said the new goverment will be a stable and sucessful one.

The new government will fulfill the expectations of the people, he added. Former Chief Minister, Okram Ibobi Singh who also attended the swearing-in ceremony said, his party will sit gracefully in the opposition and will play a constructive role in the Assembly.

The swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Minister and Council of Ministers were attended by senior BJP leaders including Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar,Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal, MoS for DoNER Jitendra Singh, BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav, BJP North-East Organising Secretary Ajay Jamwal, BJP in-charge for Manipur Prahlad Singh Patel, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Assam Finance Minister Hemanta Biswa Sarma, NPP National President Conrad A Sangma and LJP leader Chirag Paswan.

BJP Manipur President Ksh. Bhabananda, Former Chief Minister of Manipur Radhabinod Koijam, Senior State BJP leaders, members of National and State Political parties, top civil and police officials among others also attended the swearing-in ceremony.
