Naga student's feted newly-elected Naga MPs in Delhi

Celebrating and honouring the grand success of the two newly elected Naga Parliamentarians Shri Dr Lorho S Pfoze, MP outer Manipur and Shri Tokheho Yepthomi, MP Nagaland in the 17th Lok Sabha elections, Naga Student Union Delhi (NSUD) on Saturday organised a felicitation cum interaction programme themed ‘Speak for the Nagas in the Parliament’ for the two honorable Member of Parliament at Nagaland House, New Delhi.
Naga Student’s Union, Delhi - the apex Naga student’s body in the national capital organised the special programme with the objective to acknowledge them and also impress upon them of their significant role in representing the Nagas in the Parliament.
Nagas from different corners of Delhi came to be part of the programme. The president of NSUD welcomed both the honorable members and felicitated them. He impressed upon the crowd that the Naga cause is much more important than any other individual causes. We should therefore pray, support and work together to achieve our cause.
Dr Rev. Ricky Medom, Pastor, Naga Christian Fellowship, Delhi blessed both the MPs.
Tokheho Yepthmi, elected for the second time to the Parliament from Nagaland addressed the crowd on the functioning of the Lok Sabha and how he tried to impress the members of the house on the importance of the vexed Naga issue.
He is hopeful that, with the support of another Naga MP in the house, the going will be smoother. He also encouraged the Nagas especially the students to be sincere in what they do. The students in Delhi are the fortunate ones and the future of the Nagas depends much on the students. He stressed on the importance of the Nagas in Delhi to be united and work together for the greater good.
Dr. Lohro spoke with much enthusiasm on the importance of love between communities and the importance of basing our work on truth. It is important for all communities to live together in harmony. For that to happen, the communities need to interact and understand each other.
Without the support of the Meities, Kukis or the Zomis, the Nagas cannot develop and grow. He also stressed on the importance of basing our work on truth. When we stand on truth, nothing can stand to deter us from achieving our goal. He requested the Naga community in Delhi to continuously support them in the form of interaction and sharing of ideas. He also opened his door to all communities for any need.
The education minister of Manipur Thokchom Radheshyam Singh also graced the event. He stressed on the need for harmony between communities.
Other dignitaries present in the programme include M Rameshwar Singh - State Executive member BJP, Manipur Pradesh, Mani Charenamei, former MP outer Manipur, representative from NPMHR, Naga forum, Delhi, Naga Layers’ Guild and others.
The programme was hosted by Dr Zuchamo Yanthan, President NSA. Rev. Ziisho, Pastor Poumai Baptist Church, Delhi invoked God’s presence. Special numbers were presented by Awarthanga Chiru and Angeu Disuang. The programmme ended with a vote of thanks from the General Secretary of NSUD.
