KLASA lifts Jiri Cup

Jiribam, February 09 2015:
Keinou Library and Sports Association (KLASA), Bishnupur lifted the 5th Jiri (Nonigopal) Invitation Football Tournament trophy by defeating North Imphal Sporting Association (NISA), Imphal West by a margin of 4-3 goals today at the grand finale at Jiribam Higher Secondary School Playground.
The tournament was organized by All Jiribam Sports Association.
Altogether 20 teams vied for the coveted trophy.
During the final match, A Nitswor Singh of KLASA, Bishnupur scored the first goal in the 28th minute of the match.
However within a few minutes O Rishikanta Singh of NISA leveled the scoreline and the match ended 1-1 after regulation time.
Later, during the penalty kick shoot-out KLASA was able to score 3 goals out of five shots, whereas NISA was able to score 2 goals.
Meanwhile, during the prize distribution ceremony 11 Stars, Imphal East was present the award for the best discipline team in the tournament and Y Premjit Singh of KLASA for the best goal keeper.
Robinson of Young Singlung Club, Jiribam took the title for the highest scorer of the tournament, O Nishikanta Singh of NISA was adjudged the best player and A Niteswor Singh of KLASA was presented the award for the first scorer of the grand finale match.
Thereafter Col Haobam Romesh Singh, Commandant, 27th Assam Rifles and the chief guest of the grand finale handed over the winner trophy to KLASA along with the cash prize.
The finale match was graced by M Brajakanta Singh, president, All Jiribam Sports Association; Col H Romesh Singh; KC Lokho, Commandant 7th IRB, Jiribam; Hanzang Vaiphei, Commandant 87th CRPF, Uchathol; Th Ranabir Singh, Joint Secretary, Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur; donors K Basana Singh and Ksh Promila Devi as the eminent invitees.
The match was conducted by K Brojen Singh, Y Ingobi Singh, P Rajesh Singh and O Biseshore Singh as centre referee, assistant referee 1, 2 and fourth referee respectively.
