Kakching, December 31 2021: Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RD&PR) minister Thongam Biswajit Singh inaugurated the Block Office Building, Langmeidong CD Block on Friday.

Speaking at the inauguration function, Biswajit pointed out that making an institution fully functional requires three resources - infrastructure, man-power and finance.

Stating that the government understands the importance of CD Blocks and SDOs in rural areas, he said that out of 70 blocks in the state, 20 were newly constructed and the remaining repaired for public convenience.

He said that most of the schemes launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the poorer section of the society including MGNREGA are implemented through the Block offices.

While asking officials concerned to inform him if there is lack of man-power so that such deficiencies could be promptly remedied, he also said that under the present government there has been tremendous improvement in road condition.

He also highlighted various schemes including Jan Dhan Yojana, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, UJALA, SAUBHAGYA, etc.

On the other-hand, Biswajit confided that BJP has given strict directives to party functionaries for organising election related activities by following the Covid-19 SOPs issued by the government.

Speaking at the inauguration of Comprehensive Development of Terracotta Crafts Common Facility Centre, Thongjao which has been set up under Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd, Biswajit maintained that Covid-19 can be defeated if the public strictly observe SOPs issued by the government and get vaccinated.

It is very unfortunate that some comments were made that the preventive measures taken up by the government amidst detection of first Omicron case in the state have been relaxed for election campaign and fingers have been pointed to BJP, he stated.

Biswajit also conveyed that drastic changes have come in relation to road connectivity, electricity, water supply, etc., with the coming of BJP government in the state.

Bandhs/blockades that were common in the previous Congress government have totally disappeared.

On top of that, hill and valley relationship has improved significantly, he added.

Construction of the road connecting Sekmaijin under Hiyanglam assembly constituency with Sugnu will be completed by March.

Repairing of Wabagai to Sugnu section of Indo - Burma Sugnu road will also begin from first week of January next year, he further announced.

He then said that everybody should laud PM Modi's effort in fighting COVID pandemic as convergence of people and organising social gatherings would not be possible had the PM not initiated the massive vaccination programme.

In his address, Hiyanglam MLA and MANIDCO & MANITRON chairman Dr Radheshyam Yumnam said that government firmly believes there can be no development without peace.

Today, the present government has brought peace and development in the state, he said, adding that, the government has also bridged the gap between hills and the valley.

He said construction of the Langmeidong CD Block in Hiyanglam A/C is part of the government's effort towards development.

The inaugural function was also attended by Zilla Parishad Adhyaksha Kakching district Ph Jiten Singh, NH&NEC chief engineer T Robindro and other officials concerned.

Earlier in the day, minister Biswajit, who is also the Textiles, Commerce & Industry minister inaugurated the Common Facility Centre for Comprehensive Development of Terracotta Crafts at Thongjao, Kakching District under NERTPS of Ministry of Textiles.

The minister after inspecting the centre also asked officials concerned to collaborate with MEETAC regarding designs.

Among others, Textiles, Commerce & Industry-secretary Michael Achom also attended the inauguration event.
