Five arrested with gun, cash

Imphal, August 17 2023: Imphal West District Commando arrested five people with a gun and cash during a frisking-checking operation carried out on the western side of Singjamei Bridge on Wednesday night.

The arrested people have been identified as Pangambam Chingkhomba Meitei (28) s/o (L) Kiran Meitei of Yairipok Top Laimanai, Yumkhaibam Moshin alias Md Moshin (24) s/o Md Noor Zaman of Lilong Awang Leikai, Wangmayum Mehtab alias Md.Mehtab (30) s/o Md Nawab of Lilong Bazar, Maibam Sharukn Khan (28) s/o Md Abdul Hakim of Thoubal Moijing and Chingakham Sunder Singh (31) s/o Ch Nongyai Singh of Yairipok Top.

According to police report, the commando team was conducting a frisking-checking operation at around 10.30 on Wednesday.

During the operation, the team recovered one point 32 pistol with a live round, Rs 3.5 lakh in cash packed inside two side bags, one unregistered black colour Creta, two loose vehicle plates, three bottles of Cod-edyl-T- 100ml containing Codeine Phosphate 10mg and seven mobile phones from their possession.

The gun was seized from Chingkhomba's possession.

All five of them along with the seized items have been handed over to Singjamei PS, which has registered a case in this regard and launched an investigation.
