Senapati, October 23 2021: Former Tribal Affairs & Hills minister N Kayisii on Saturday inaugurated Zeliangrong 'Morung' at Makuilongdi village.

In his welcome address, D Disuraibou, chairman Makuilongdi Village Council, said that it was a blessing for the people of region to witness not only the development works undertaken by N Kayisii but also to see the MIA himself physically visiting the village and providing all necessities.

N Lokho, convenor Tadubi Circle Youth Forum, stated that the forum was voluntarily formed in order to bring unity and choose a consensus candidate for the welfare of the people, explaining that the forum is non-political and every youth member can enrol in it.

The aim and objective of the forum is to bring social changes, social development, village development and employment, he added.

The forum is not only for youth from Mao as it discussed together with Zeliangrong brothers to bring unity and good relationship among different tribes and it will also hold a 'sit-together' at Makhan Centre by inviting all youth presidents and secretaries, he said.

An elder from the 49-Tadubi assembly constituency expressed gratitude to the MLA for bringing development to the region and for his concern for the region.

He also expressed his happiness on see different tribes coming together and unity among brothers and called for more such meetings in the days to come.

Speaking as the chief guest, N Kayisii, MLA 49-Tadubi A/C, informed that the 'Morung' for Zeliangrong people was constructed with assistance from deputy chief minister Y Joykumar, who could not be with them due to his prior engagement.

Makuilongdi is stated to be an ancient village for Zeliangrong tribe of the state.

People of the region have their own misery but people of the region are known for possession of material wealth through their hard works.

The MLA stressed on the need to preserve one's culture and tradition as a Naga and lauded the villagers for such a grand construction.

The Morung is reminiscent of forefathers who had great culture and traditions during their lifetime, the MLA noted.

Kayisii also mentioned that the Nagas do not know the art of making aeroplane or shipyard but they are rich in old traditions.

He said that he has visited almost all villages under the constituency and seen some villages preserving well the age-old traditions of their forefathers till now like Yangkhullen and Makuilongdi.

He then urged all to respect and value the age old traditions of the forefathers by preserving them.

MLA Kayisii, who had also served as state minister for 3 years, regretted that he was unable to continue many things that he wanted to do due to the Covid pandemic.

He asserted that he entered politics not to earn money but to uplift the downtrodden villagers.

The MLA stressed on the importance of unity to see development in villages and hoped that unity and love among different tribes in Tadubi A/C like Mao, Maram, Zeme, Liangmai, Puimai, Rongmei, Kuki, Nepali, Poumai, Tangkhul and Thangal will remain.

Kayisii, who is also the president of the state NPP, disclosed that about 35-40 candidates would contest the coming state assembly election on the party ticket as decided by the state executives.

E Fuidi, chairman Zeme Naga Council Senapati, in his vote of thanks, stated that out of different development projects undertaken in the region, one community hall, playground, IVR from Makuilongdi to Kanem village, hanging bridge to paddy field and Morung were constructed under the 49-Tadubi A/C by the MLA.

Headmen of various Mao villages, representatives from Tadubi Circle Youth Forum, Makhan Union, Oklong areas and different CSO leaders were present at the event.

Later, a tree plantation was carried out.
