Imphal, April 20 2015 :
The Manipur State Archives is now embroiled in corruptions of all sorts.
If there is no political intervention and shielding, some heads will roll and Okram Ibobi has some hard explanation to make.
Documents now in the possession of Hueiyen Lanpao show that that one Khambaton Meitei of Thoubal market had submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister on January 21, 2015 urging suitable actions against the Manipur State Archives Joint Director K Sushila.
The memorandum alleged that Sushila who was then the Deputy Director had misappropriated Rs 10 lakh which had been sanctioned for the digitization of the old records of the Manipur State Archives which is a centrally sponsored scheme.
It was further alleged that she had swindled Rs 4.60 lakh sanctioned for the construction of a 5000 litre capacity water reservoir in the office complex of the Manipur State Archives.
It is learned that the State Vigilance commission has already initiated an investigation into the charges.
It transpires that Rs 10 lakh released by the Central government for the digitization of old records had been allegedly credited to the personal account of Sushila.
There is also controversy over the digitization works.
While she was the Deputy Director, Sushila had given the work order to M/s Info Trade Service.
The office called for the progress of the works by this firm since the State Government share of Rs 3,33,333 is to be paid to it.
However, the proprietor of the firm Tarun Thokchom submitted a written clarification saying that his firm had never taken work orders in this connection.
The firm has no truck with one Longjam Ajit and he is not the proprietor of this firm.
