Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan opens State Open Badminton C'ships

The Yonex-Sunrise 41st Inter District and 68th State Open Badminton Championships 2024, organised by Manipur Badminton Association (MBA), kicked off on Tuesday at DM University Campus, Imphal.
The championship will be held in Under-9 and men's open events.
Hosted by Th Biswajit Singh, power minister and MBA president, the event was attended by Dr Ranjan Singh, IPR & health minister; H Dingo Singh, social welfare minister; K Robindro, MLA & MANIDCO chairman; and P Bilash Singh (national awardee), JN Dance Academy director, as chief guest and guests of honour respectively.
Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh stated in his speech that everybody who enjoys playing games and sports, regardless of age or gender, will be aware of and benefit from these activities.
He also asked the authorities in charge to do everything possible to elevate sporting events like Tuesday's to a higher level.
In his speech as the chief host, Th Biswajit stated that the tournament is the largest badminton tournament' ever staged in the state.
Despite the fact that badminton is considered an expensive sport, many young people are becoming interested in it, he said.
The minister noted that participating in sporting events not only keeps us fit, but also helps us retain correct discipline and stops us from engaging in substance addiction and other undesirable behaviours.
Biswajit, however, expressed disappointment at the lack of participation in the tournament.
He then asked all sports enthusiasts to encourage participants in the future.
In his presidential address, H Dingo Singh said that Manipur shines brightly in the world through culture and sports, and badminton has become a key factor in kindling the state's brand and glory.
He also urged all sports enthusiasts to collaborate in promoting sports of all disciplines for a better and healthier society.
