KYVO, MTFC to play 55th CC Meet

Imphal, October 26 2011: KYVO, Leimapokpam and MTFC, Senapati have qualified for the 55th Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament, 2011 after defeating their opponents in today's matches played at Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal.

The first match today was played between THAU, Thangmeiband and KYVO, Leimapokpam.

KYVO beat THAU 7-6 in penalty shoot out.

The keenly contested match ended in a draw with the scoreline at 1-1 .

W Sanathoi of THAU drew frst blood in the 4th minute of the match.

With one goal ahead which THAU had almost held on till the end of the matchwhen Ngouba of KYVO scored the vital goal of the match in the 90th minute which changed the fate of the both teams. In penalty shoot out, THAU players netted only five balls against six of KYVO and lost the match with a heavy heart.

H Romen and Joseph Golmei of THAU and L Boynao and W Chaoba of KYVO were cautioned by the referee for their unsporting behaviour.

The second match played between MTFC, Senapati and WYC, Wangkhem also ended in a draw with the scoreline at 1-1 in normal time.

However luck was on the side of MTFC when its players netted four balls against two of WYC and won the match.

The first blood was drawn by S Lalabi of WYC in the 58th minute of the match.

However the goal was soon equalised by VS Samotha of MTFC in the 73rd minute of the match.

VS Samotha of MTFC and Sanjeet of WYC were issued a yellow card each for their unsporting behaviour.
