THE FIRST sitting of the executive council of the Manipur Olympic Association was conducted in its conference hall with newly elected President, Bijoy Koijam on the chair.
The siiting selected M.Shyamananda, IPS to be the chief-de-mission of Manipur contingent in the upcoming National Games which is likely to be held from next month or from January next year at Jharkhand.
A fund mobilisation committee comprising of seven members with MOA president as chairman was formed to contribute funds for the association.
Today's sitting also appointed four associate members, two associate joint secretaries.
Other members who are appointed for the committee were Vice President, MLA I.Hemochandra, new associate member IPS M.Shayamanda, Member Kulwant Singh Chima, new associate joint secretary, N.Mobi, General Secretary, L.Manglem and Treasurer, S.Indrakumar.
Other associate members were Ch.
Birendra, T.Nabakumar and N.Momon.
Hockey Olympian Ksh Thoiba was appointed as associate joint secretary.
The sitting also decided to start the construction work of the Olympic Bhawan.
It may be reminded that the state government had already given a reserved area for constructing Olympic Bhawan.
State government had been also insisting the centre to provide under the special plan allocation.
The sitting also resolved to contribute and raised funds for the association for the upcoming national games and for the construction work of the Olympic Bhawan.
The sitting also decided to erect a life sized statue of RK Madhuriayajit who was the pioneer of Olympic movement in Manipur, in front of the Olympic Bhawan at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
It also decided to published a monthly news bulletin.
In the meantime, a felicitation ceremony MOA preseident MLA Bijoy Koijam was held at Manipur Rifles Officers' Club by Works Minister K.Ranjit.
