Imphal, June 13 2013: With five points in his kitty former champion Premjit emerged as the sole leader at the end of fifth round in the 23rd Kh anou Singh Memorial state Level Open Chess Tournament being held at Kwakeithel Boys junior School.

Premjit, the 1994 winner of the tournament, defeated Jaminikanta as the latter failed to complete the mandatory 40 moves in 90 minutes.

In another game between Sanjoy and Chakritombi both settled for a draw to remain in joint second position at 4.5 points each.

The day also featured 26 other games.
