KPC (A) lock horns MPSC (A); Tekcham clash Thangmeiband in Men's & Women's Final

Imphal, April 10 2015 : Khurai Polo Club (A) and Manipur Police Sporting Club (A) will vie for the 31st State Level Polo Tournament while Tekcham Polo Club will lock horns with Thangmeiband Polo Club in the final of the 9th State Level Women's Polo Tournament.

In the first semi final match on Friday, Khurai Polo Club (A) played Manipur Police Sporting Club (C) at Mapal Kangjeibung.

Both the teams entered the semifinals with commanding victories over their rivals in the quarterfinal matches.

Khurai took the lead though L Thomson in the 3.37 min of the first chukker.

After being down by one-goal Police C players fought hard to get back the goal.

The effort was realized when S Viking found the target in 5.37 min to relieve of their supports and players.

The first chukker ended in 1-1 .

Action between MPSC (A) and MPSC (B)

The second and third chukkers were barren in terms of goals but players fought hard to dominate each other and exhibit polo skills of the highest order.

First half of the final chukker also fail to produce any goals.

Suddenly, Khurai increased the pace of the game and mounted series of raids into the Police territory.

In one such raid, L Thomson's strike found the target and provides a hope of fighting for the title in the 4.15 min.

Police efforts to stay in the match were thwart by Khurai players collectively and increases the frustration of police team.

P Ojit of Khurai lapped into the gaps left by the advancing police players and strikes the ball into the goalmouth of Police team to the dismay of police player in the 6.55 min.

The goal left the Police C team stunned and they realized that the title is slipping from their hands.

When referee blown the final whistle Khurai Polo Club A earned the right to play in the final in expense of MPSC C. MPSC (A) Vs MPSC (B) .

MPSC (A) and MPSC (B) played the second semifinal to decide the right to play Khurai PC in the final.

One of the pre tournament favorite MPSC (A) came out strongly and stamp their authority in the match through a goal from S Abungcha in the 0.31 min of the match.

S Bimol extended the lead in 2.17 min.

With two goals advantage Police A team sustained the pressure on Police B team.

T Pradeep of Police B did not allow his mates to drop their shoulders under the pressure by scoring a goal in the 4.16 min.

The goal lifted the spirit of Police B players and they mounted series of raids to get back the one goal deficit.

In the end of the first chukker Police B trail Police A by 1-2 .

When the crowd was expecting a close match in the subsequent chukker, Police A had other ideas.

Police A players did not allow Police B players to score any goals in the remaining chuckker rather they added one goal each in every chukker.

S Abuncha in 2.17 min of second chukker; Th Ranjit in 1.36 min of third chukker and M Jawan in 1.40 min of the final chukker and earned the right to play Khurai Polo Club in the title match with 5-1 victory.

Women's Polo .

Tekcham Polo team earned the right to play Thanmeiband Polo Club in women's section as Chingkheihunba Polo Club did not turned up for the match and forfeited the match in favor of Tekcham team.
