51st Sub-Junior National Basketball Championship : Shriyans, Billgates lead the way as Manipur outclass hosts Andhra Pradesh 107-21; girls go down 36-56

Imphal, September 28 2026: Manipur lads registered a crushing 107-21 victory over Andhra Pradesh for the second Group F win in the ongoing 51st Sub-Junior National Basketball Championship being held in Vijayawada.

The Manipur boys completely dominated the court from the opening whistle, suffocating Andhra Pradesh's defense and restricting them to single-digit scores across the first three quarters.

Manipur firmly established a 32-2 lead in the first quarter, which they extended to 48-7 by halftime, and standardly advanced it to 78-17 by the end of the third period before wrapping up the spectacular 107-21 blowout in the final quarter.

Potsangbam Shriyans spearheaded the blistering offensive onslaught for Manipur, netting a game-high 30 points, which included two spectacular treys.

Billgates Thiyam provided excellent support with 25 points of his own, firing in two triples.

Prolific double-digit contributions also came from Chongtham Chitan with 19 points, Achom Phoenix with 16 points, and Nongthombam Chitravash with 10 points.

Rounding out the scoresheet for the powerhouse squad were Pangakpa Chingakham (3 points), Malem Thingnam (2 points), and Shijagurumayum Bronson (2 points) .

In stark contrast, Andhra Pradesh struggled heavily to find openings in Manipur's rigid backcourt defense.

Vignesh, Rohith, and Mokshith were the top contributors for the home state team with a modest 4 points apiece.

Naga Shourya, Harsha Vardhan, Hema Charan, and Puneeth added 2 points each, while Atharv managed to score a single point in the tough outing.

It was the second straight win for Manipur after beating Bihar 80-42 yesterday.

Meanwhile, the State girls went down 36-36 to Bihar despite efforts from Monali Phurailatpam (15 pts), L Lingjelthoibi (7 pts), Hoshika Mayengbam (6 pts), Ng Chanukhombi (3 pts), Belia Mutum (2 pts), Chingakham Lamjingbi (2 pts) and Ng Chingulembi (1 pt) .

Manipur boys and girls will play Meghalaya boys and girls in the final league matches tomorrow.
