Imphal, August 22 2014 :
The Indian Journalists Union (IJU), the premier and most representative organisation of the working journalists in India, joined the International Journalists Community to strongly condemn the brutal beheading of American journalist, James Foley (40) by the militants of the Islamic States of Syria and Iraq (ISSI) .
In a statement, SN Sinha, President and D Amar, Secretary General of Indian Journalists Union(IJU), said the international organisations of the working journalists should launch a powerful and wide spread campaign to secure the lives of journalists in the conflict areas and non-conflict areas alike.
This shameful and cowardly act highlights the grave threats that journalists face while covering conflict situations.
They demanded the unconditional release of Steven Satloff, a fellow journalist of James Foley, who was also abducted along with Foley.
