Imphal, November 03:
Expressing concern over the sudden stoppage of payment of salary to the employees under the Council and Zonal Education Office (ZEO), Tangkhul students' body, Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) asserted that as the time for final examination approaches, it is the sons and daughters of these employees who suffer the most due to non-payment of salary.
In a statement, general secretary of the student body RS Jollyson pointed out that the pay for employees under the Council is due since July 2007 and for employees under ZEO is due since August, 2007.Citing incompletion of MGEL as the reason for non-payment of their salary is nothing but a mockery, the student body said, while observing that it has been the routine affairs of the Govt of Manipur to make the Education Dept a soft target whenever there is shortage of fund without realising the fact that they are the maker of the pillar of the nation.
In view of the importance of teachers, in particular and education in general, he student body has urged the Govt to pay off the due salary of the employees under the Council and ZEO at the earliest possible.
