Imphal, January 30, 2012:
Alleging that the polls in eight polling stations of 31-Thoubal and five polling stations of 59-Saikot have been unfair, the BJP has urged the Election Commission of India and Chief Election Officer, Manipur to conduct re-poll in these polling stations.
Briefing media persons at its office here at Nityaipat Chuthek, Tapir Gaon, BJP National General Secretary, Manipur in-charge said that in Thoubal Constituency, the presiding officer and the other poll personnel were deputed mostly from Thoubal district and Sugnu and this was a gross violation of the ECI guidelines.
In almost all parts of the district money power and gun power was used.
He also termed the policy of ECI to use mobile phones for taking photograph of voter during the polling process, as absurd.
The concerned Returning Officer and eight presiding Officers of Thoubal should be suspended and re-poll in these polling stations should also be conducted.
The polling stations include 31/5,31/11, 31/18, 31/21,31/35, 31/36,31/24 and 31/31. Tapir Gaon also stated that polling stations in 59-Saikot under Churachandpur district also witnessed various illegal methods being employed.
The polling stations include 59/9, 59/10, 59/21, 59/15 and 59/3.
