Rape accused attacked

Womenfolk from the locality of a rape victim today attacked a teacher who has been accused of rape when he was brought to a Court from Sajiwa Central Jail.
The incident occurred around 11 am when five rape accused in three different rape and murder cases were produced before the District and Sessions Court, Manipur East.
They were brought to the Court from Sajiwa Central Jail with heavy security cover.
All of the rape accused were escorted inside the Court even though furious womenfolk tried to attack them.
The five accused persons who were produced before the Court are Nongthongbam Barun (35) s/o Achoubi of Urup Litan Makhong, accused in the rape of a minor girl; Ksh Biju (28) s/o (L) Ibochouba of Irilbung Bazar, Thoudam Jibon (27) s/o Thoiba of Irilbung Machahal Mayai Leikai, Thoijam Theses alias Aboi (27) s/o T Jugindro of Thambalkhong Sabal Leikai, all of them accused in the rape and murder of a researcher of RIMS and S Ngaopuni (65) s/o (L) Seiha of Liyai Khullen at present staying at Sangakpham Paomei Colony, accused in the rape of a minor girl.

The protesters were taken out of the Court premises later.
Besides closing the entrance gate of the Court complex to prevent further disturbances, additional police personnel of Imphal PS including women personnel were called up.
However, mother of a rape victim flung a slipper towards the accused after he was escorted out of the Court complex.
Police managed to take the rape accused inside a van.
Meanwhile, the Court fixed Jan 12, 2015 for conducting the next hearing in the rape and murder case of a scholar of RIMS after hearing both the prosecution and defense counsels today.
At the same time, the hearing in the rape case of a minor girl has been deferred till January 7 next year as one of the prosecution witnesses failed to turn up before the Court to give a statement today.
