Imphal, September 29:
Describing it as confusing and contradictory, Action Committee Against Tipaimukh Project (ACTIP) has denounced the statement of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh made on the foundation stone laying ceremony for the administrative office building of Electricity Department here yesterday.
In a statement, jointly signed by its convenor Nanda Kamei and co-convenors Thokchom Ratan, Oinam Bikramjit and Kinderson Pamei, ACTIP asserted that traditionally employment generating activities where Ibobi himself has been nourished and brought up is doomed as nonsense in his eye.
Such impression from a responsible person is very unfortunate for the younger generation.
Imposition of his developmental notions without considering the wishes and desires of the people will beget more trouble and law and order situation will get worsen, the ACTIP statement maintained.
Demanding the Chief Minister to come out openly on Tipaimukh dam issue with facts and figures instead of back pedalling his commitment to hold open interaction, ACTIP said he ought to address and explain under what circumstances the memorandum of understanding was signed in the light of State Cabinet decision and two Assembly resolutions against the implementation of Tipaimukh Dam project.
Instead of strengthening the accumulative messes and employing insincere and ineffective officials and formulating police to collect electric revenue, the Chief Minister is busying in lecturing the important of the electric power that in long run will ruin the entire Manipur, the ACTIP statement charged.
Your attempt to uproot, butcher and commercialising of our traditionally owned land, resoruces, will never be succeeded, the statement said.
ACTIP further pointed out that development should be people oriented and respond to the local need and necessity which can be shared and enjoyed by all.
