Imphal, January 18 2016: Personnel of Imphal West and Imphal East police carried out search operations under their respective jurisdictions as security measures ahead of Republic Day.

A team of Imphal West district police under the supervision of Netrajit, DSP (Commando) and led by Inspector P Sanjoy OC, Imphal West commando including a team of women police personnel of Imphal West district conducted a search operation at Singjamei Chongtham Leikai under Singjamei PS.

During the search operation, all locals including women in the age group of 15-50 years were called out from their respective residences for verification.

Police also carried out house to house search operation.

13 persons who failed to produce their identity proof were detained by the police team and handed over to Singjamei PS for further verification.

On the other hand, a team of Imphal East district police carried out search operation at Hatta Golapati Auto parking and KR Lane area under Porompat PS today early morning.

The search operation was conducted under the supervision of Singhajit, Additional SP (Operation) Imphal East and led by Inspector P Achouba, OC Imphal East (Commando) along with women police personnel.

Nine including one bail out person who failed to produce proper identity proof were detained and were later handed over to Porompat PS for further verification.

Imphal West district police intensified frisking and checking exercise on various roads even during night time.

Meanwhile, for the first time in the history of Republic Day celebration, State sniffer dogs contingent will participate in the parade this year.

Dog trainers and sniffer dogs have been making hectic preparations for the R-Day celebration.
