Advocate Samarjit appointed ASG

Advocate Khomdram Samarjit has been appointed as the Assistant Solicitor General for the High Court of Manipur for a period of three years.
An order to this effect was issued by RK Srivastava, Joint Secretary and Legal Advisor, Ministry of Law and Justice, Department of Legal Affairs.
Khomdram Samarjit Singh was born to Khomdram Ibocha Singh, former Principal, DM College of Arts, Imphal & (L) Hijam Mema Devi at Haobam Marak Irom Leikai, Imphal West District and is the second child of six siblings.
He started practising law, in the initial years (1999-2002) with HNK Singh, Senior Advocate and former Advocate General of Manipur, who happens to be his maternal uncle and independently thereafter.
He has put in a total period of 22 years in legal practice including a brief period of two years and a half as Legal Assistant in the Finance Department, Government of Manipur.
While in practice, he has been associated with many organizations in the State in various capacities, including Election Commission of India from 2019 to 2021 as its Standing Counsel in the High Court of Manipur, National Investigation Agency (NLA) for eight years (October 2013 to November 2021) as its Special Public Prosecutor in the Special Court, NIA and the High Court of Manipur; Manipur Nursing Council from 2018 to' 2021 as its Legal Advisor-cum-Standing Counsel; Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur State Branch as its Honorary Legal Advisor from 2019 and was recently empanelled as one of the Panel Counsels for State Bank of India in 2021.Mention may be made that Khomdram Samarjit Singh is the third ASG appointed for the High Court of Manipur after Salam Rupachandra and Sarangthem Suresh, whose term expires in March next year.
