Maram Union celebrates

A ceremony to commemorate 25 years of K Raisong for his service to the people as the president of Maram Union, was held on Wednesday at Katomei Village, Tahamzam (Senapati) District headquarters, under the aegis of Maram Union.
The celebration began with the unveiling of the Monolith by H Kaba, MRNBA Executive Secretary, Speaking at the event, Pungdi P Celestine stated that it was normal for a Church or a Village to observe Silver Jubilee or Golden Jubilee but to commemorate 25 years for a person who hold office as the President of a Tribe was not only a rare occasion but a day that was preserved by the Lord.
In solidarity messages, S Pousiba, former ADC Vice-chairman and A John, President, Maram Thangal Council had expressed that with K Raisong, the three were considered as the traditional three cooking stones, as there was not much equal-minded elders, with least educated persons at their time to lead the Maram People.
For his integrity and unwavering stance when it comes to confronting issues, including his well-cultured personal habit, Ng Joseph, former Speaker Maram Union, likened K Raisong as the legendary Apou Rangtaiba, Apou Raitamlung and Apou Pungtingba.
Former Minister, Francis Ngajokpa proposed to fully develop Maram literature as pledge to the occasion.
K Raina, former Deputy Speaker, Manipur Legislative Assembly, recalled back his close association with the Celebrant bringing back the various experiences of immense pressure of bullets, rain or sunshine, which the latter had faced and endured for societal cause and not for personal reasons.
While exhorting, K Raina, urged the gathering to work for oneness and inclusiveness, he also advised to push up when someone is down and to extend support to one another in good times or bad.
The Celebrant had expressed his happiness and gratitude for organising the event with full fervour and to all who had come to witness and showered love and blessings to him on the occasion.
Cautioning that any one may do whatever one desires, he advised, there should be unity among the people all the time, while elaborating that if there is Unity, God's mercy would always be there.
