Imphal, February 05 2014: Not ruling out possibility of a third front Government at the Centre after the Parliamentary elections, Janata Dal (United) Manipur State president M Tombi confided that a meeting of 10 political parties scheduled on February 11 will decide on whom to field as the common candidate for the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency.

He also conveyed gratitude to the party's national president Sharad Yadav for taking up multiple issues of racial assault against the people of North East studying and working in New Delhi, sexual abuse of NE women in the national capital and the NE youths constantly targeted by anti-social elements in today's session of Parliament.

Concerned with the growing incidents of violence against people of the region in the national capital the JD (U) State unit apprised Sharad Yadav to place the issues on the floor of Parliament, he said.

With regarding to fielding common candidate in the Outer seat, Tombi said the 10 non-Congress/BJP political organisations are unanimous that there should be consensus in the selection of the common candidate.

briefing newspersons at the Babupara office of the party today, the State unit president maintained that nomination of CPI State secretary Dr M Nara as the common candidate of the political conglomerate in the inner seat is to highlight plight of the people of Manipur and various critical issues besieging the State.

Informing that national leaders of 14 political organisations would be meeting at new Delhi on February 9 after which formation of the Third Front might be formally announced, he also opined that political impact of the multi-party alliance will also be significantly felt in Manipur.

M Tombi, who will leave for New Delhi tomorrow to attend the JD (U) national executive meeting from February 7 till 9, said he will prevail upon the party's central leaders for chalking up effective policy for protecting the people of the NE region from racial attacks and other forms of atrocities in the national capital.

Moreover demands would be raised for protecting Manipur's boundaries, accelerate road development work on the Imphal-Jiribam section of the national highway, complete Barak bridge repairing at the earliest and repeal black laws from Manipur, said the president.

Manipur-specific decisions taken at the national executive meeting would be ceaselessly campaigned for implementation if the Third Front forms the Government at the centre, Tombi affirmed.
