Imphal, July 31:
With many irregularities bogging down the central sponsored National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) due to lack of coordination with the Health Department, a meeting was held today at the office chamber of the Health Minister to review implementation of the NRHM.
The meeting presided by the Health Minister was attended by the Chief Secretary, Health Director, Family Welfare Director and Director, National Rural Health Mission.
The meeting deliberated on the lack of coordination between the mission authority and Health Department.
According to guidelines, the mission Director should control all doctors and other staff appointed under NRHM on contract basis.
However, because of shortage of staff in Health Department, those staff appointed on contract basis are being utilised in Primary Health Sub-Centres, Primary Health Centres and Community Health Centres.
When these contract staff were transferred by the mission Director, some staff of the Dept were transferred together with them thereby causing lot of problems.
Taking serious of these problems, Minister Parijat instructed the mission Director to issue transfer and posting orders of those contract staff with the knowledge of Health Director and Family Welfare Director.
He further instructed to establish effective coordination between mission doctors and Department doctors under Commissioner (Health).
The Minister decided that all funds and works under NRHM should be entrusted to the Directors of Health and Family Welfare under the condition that the mission may investigate into the works taken up under Health Director and Family Welfare Director.
