Tamei Sub Division VACC appeals public not to lodge complaints against Govt or Govt employee

Imphal, October 23 2017: Village Authority Chairman Council (VACC) of Tamei sub division and civil society organizations have fervently 'appealed' the general public of 'Tamei area' not to lodge complaints or condemn the Government or Government officials who are working hard to ease the hardship of the people in the area.

This statement has come at the backdrop of an issue between Tamah Students' Union (TSU) and the Tamei organizations on the installation of a State Bank of India (SBI) branch at Tamei headquarters .

The Government has constructed a bank building at Tamah village, near Tamei sub divisional headquarters but certain facilities including security issue are yet to be met.

The government is said to have admitted its inability to meet all the facilities of the bank, particularly the security issue, at the moment at Tamah village.

However, it assured to make it functional by meeting all the needed facilities as soon as possible .

In the meantime, the government “desires to open the bank at the Tamei sub divisional headquarters” for the time being, as implementation of government schemes has become a problem due to non availability of banking facilities in the area .

The statement issued by Adin Abonmai, Secretary of Village Authority Chairman Council of Tamei sub division, then 'requested' the State Government of Manipur and the bank authority not to get discouraged by campaigns and lobbies of "some vested interest elements" who are all out to disturb the development works in Tamei sub division .

The statement of Village Authority Chairman Council asserted that the Council and general public of Tamei area will "face elements who indulge in activities which are against the progress of Tamei area .

Regarding the October 17 meeting between various organizations with Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong district, Armstrong Pame pertaining to the bank issue, the statement of Village Authority Council of Tamei sub division made a clarification that, the official (Armstrong Pame) sought the opinions of the people.

During the meeting, some leaders on behalf of their respective organizations shared their views on the bank issue .

According to the statement, Dr Hunibou Newmai, Education Director of Liangmai Naga Baptist Association, Manipur (LNBA-M expressed the urgent need to open the bank at Tamei headquarters.

Lungpadbou Pamai, President of Village Authority Chairman Council of Tamei sub division also expressed similar views and said that the people have been facing immense hardship due to non availability of banking facilities in the area.

Sharing his views, Rev Z Mairilungbou, Executive Secretary of LNBA-M appealed the Deputy Commissioner to open the bank immediately so as to address the problems faced by the people of the area.

Khiuchambou, Vice President of Liangmai Naga Council (LNC) explained the official on the problems given by the non availability of banking facilities in Tamei area .

According to the statement of Village Authority Chairman Council, after lending a patient hearing on the views shared by the public leaders, Deputy Commissioner, Armstrong Pame told the public leaders about the difficulties for the government to "implement various schemes due to non availability of banking facilities" in the area.

In the same time, the Deputy Commissioner also pointed out certain difficulties to install the said bank at Tamah village near Tamei headquarters at the moment.

However, the Deputy Commissioner assured public leaders that the bank will be opened at Tamah village as and when certain factors are addressed, according to the VACC statement .

Reacting to this, Tamah Chairman, Animbou Pamai demanded land compensations if the said bank is not going to be opened at Tamah village, alleged the VACC statement.

The statement also alleged that Wirihahbou, Secretary of TSU cautioned that the Deputy Commissioner would be held responsible "if undesirable things happen in this regard" .

However, Tingenlungbou, a member of Tamah Village Authority "endorsed the majority opinion to temporarily open the said bank at Tamei headquarters, and requested the concerned authority and general public to assure the opening of the bank at Tamah village as and when everything is settled" .
