Decks have been cleared for the public information campaigns to be launched in different parts of the State to spread awareness and sensitise the people on the Bharat Nirman programme and other Centrally-sponsored developmental schemes of the Government.
Starting from September 26, the first phase of the campaign would be carried out for five days in Malom and surrounding areas.
The campaign being launched under the auspices of Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, would be carried out in Manipur jointly by Press Information Bureau (PIB), Imphal, Directorate of Field Publicity, Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity, Song and Drama Division (DIPR), Prasar Bharati, Inter-Media Public Coordination Committee, Departments concerned of the State Government, Panchayati Raj Institutions and Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Kendra NGOs.
Giving a detailed account in this connection during a press conference at Jail Road office of the PIB today, media and communication officer of the Department Premlata Loitam informed that the campaign would cover various programmes being taken up under Bharat Nirman like rural housing, rural road connectivity, rural drinking water supply scheme and Centrally sponsored developmental schemes of the UPA Government like Jawarharlal Nehru National Urban Renewable Mission (JNNURM), Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Right to Information Act, National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, ICDS and National Rural Health Mission.
Top officials of Government departments implementing these schemes would be delivering lectures and interact with the people to clear their doubts during the campaign, apart from organising exhibition and putting up stalls show-casing success story of 15 different SHG entrepreneurs, Premlata said.
Field Publicity Officer of Directorate Vivek Khuraijam said DFP would also be putting up stalls to highlight feats of nine units under REGP.
He further informed that the information campaign would be launched in Utlou, Nambol and Kangpokpi as well and publicity material would be distributed along the people.
