The second phase of the Public Information Campaign organised by Press Information Bureau, Govt of India, Imphal in collaboration with media units of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and local organisations began at Thoubal district's kakching today.
The first phase was held on March 13 and 14 at Tamenglong.
The campaign's second phase was inaugurated by Kakching AC MLA Y Surchandra as the chief guest while MLA of Wabagai AC Dr U Deben was the functional president.
Assistant Station Director of AIR (Imphal) M Kanankumar was the guest of honour.
Appreciating concept of launching such campaigns that aim on enlightening rural people on developmental and welfare programmes initiated by the Central Government , dignitaries and other speakers pointed out inevitability of masses' participation in the implementation of various schemes.
Other highlight of the day's function include opening of a 10 stall exhibition organised in connection with the Campaign, one day eye care camp, presentation of variety programmes by artistes of song and Drama Division, Imphal Unit and an interaction sessions to create awareness on spread and prevention on malaria and tuberculosis.
The interaction programme conducted during the technical session in the afternoon was held with Dr N Inaoba and Dr K Gunamani as resource persons with editor of Matamgi Yakairol Brozendro Ningomba as the moderator.
RIMS training prog concludes: The training programme on substance use disorders which was organised by the Department of Psychiatry from March 12 concluded today.
The training programme was sponsored by the WHO, India.
There were 14 participants from the NE States.
Director of RIMS Prof L Fimate was chief guest of the concluding function.
Prof W Gyaneswor, Prof Y Mohen, Prof Hiramani, etc were present in the dais.
Speaking at the occasion, Prof Fimate said that such programme was very relevant in our society since there were reports of crimes almost daily.
Congratulating the participants, he said that the Psychiatrists have a great role to play.
The post-graduate award session was also held today in the mini auditorium.
Dr Kausik Chakrabarti of the Pharmacology Department was adjudged the best.
He was given a cash award of Rs 1000.There were altogether seven participants.
Extolling the works of the students, Prof Fimate said that such scientific sessions were good as it will help the doctors in the long run.
The participants had a tough time in answering the incisive questions from the four judges.
The judges admitted that it was no easy task to choose the best participant since all of them had done exceedingly well, according to a statement issued by media advisor of RIMS.
