With the expiry of the extended deadline it set for fulfilment of its various demands, the All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) has threatened to boycott all Government institutions in hill districts with effect from midnight of August 11.According to a statement issued by ATSUM, some of the unresolved issues which have been deliberately ignored by the State Government despite repeated appeals and reminders are�� non compliance of reservation rules by MPSC in recruitment of MCS and other allied services of the State and intervention of the State Government, non compliance of reservation norms in the promotion of some Jamadars to Subedars by the Home
Department, the problems and plights of tribal peoples in Manipur University and the intervention of State Government, extension of service of contract teachers in hill districts, publication of State's stance on Meetei Mayek and issue of PDS items for Churachandpur district and establishment of NIT.
Government schools, ZEO offices, Health, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Departments will be exempted from the purview of the boycott.
However, the boycott will cover all vehicles carrying Government and semi-Government goods and items including oil tankers but not LPG carriers.
The boycott will also cover all vehicles carrying construction materials directly or indirectly related with the Government.
The ATSUM further asked all truck and other vehicle owners and drivers entering Manipur through NH 39 and NH 53 to make sure that the items they are carrying are not included among the boycotted items.
