Imphal, August 09, 2014:
After all the hostellers of Manipur University were evicted forcibly from their hostels, some of them are still taking refuge at a local market although many others have gone home or to their relatives' homes.
Even as the students have been enduring untold misery , the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar have shown little empathy.
It has been four days since the evicted students took refuge at Heijingang Keithel.
Some girl students are also putting up at the market.
With no proper place for sleeping and no arrangement for food, health conditions of many of them have started deteriorating.
Notably, the Registrar issued a notification at around of 5 pm of August 5 asking all hostellers to leave their rooms by 4 pm of August 6 until further notice.
This evoked a strong protest agitation resulting in a severe police crackdown within the university campus.
