Thousands lend their voice in favour of ILPS

In continuation to various demonstrations staged since the past couple of weeks, different organisations and Meira Paibi bodies carryied on the mass agitation for implementation of ILPS in Manipur.
Sit-in-protests were staged at Uchiwa and Shanti Keithel, Leimaram.
Similar protest was held at Langol Zone IV by the womenfolk of Langdei and Nung- jao Manbi Lairembi Leikai declaring that the movement would continue until ILPS is implemented.
Residents of Waroi hill, both hills and plain people of that area jointly staged a sit-in-protest on the issue.
Another protest demonstration was staged by the womenfolk of Mayang Lang-jing area demanding the implementation of ILPS.
Women of Tera Nepra Menjor Leikai also staged a sit-in-protest pressing ffor the same demand.
Protest demonstration was also jointly staged by the Women of Uchekon Jubaraj Palli Women Meira Paibi Association and Uchekon Takhok Mapan Women Association at Uchekon Jubaraj Palli demanding the system to be implemented at the earliest.
The protesters demanded implementation of ILPS in Manipur stating that the stir would intensify and continue until the demand is achieved.
A woman leader said, "Even if the 60 MLAs fail to protect the indigenous people, we the people will unite and save the indigenous people and defend our rights" .
Under the aegis of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS), Thang- meiband Kabrambam Leikai Meira Paibi and Thangmei-band Lourung Purel Leikai Meira Paibi staged dharna from 10 am to 4 pm at Thang-meiband Road.
Meira Paibi advisor Mayanglambam Ibechaobi said that the demand for ILPS implementation is legitimate and justifiable.
The situation would further aggravate if the Government does not listen to the voice of the people, she added.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the Government's silence on the issue, she said the implementation of ILPS is a must to protect the indigenous people of the State.
Strongly condemning the police action against the student agitators, she also de- manded immediate release of student and women agitators.
Similar protests were also held at Sagolband Moirang Hanuba Leirak, Takyel community hall, Singjamei Wang- ma Kshetri Leikai, Langol Games Village, Heirangoi-thong, Koirengei and Mayang Langjing.
