Imphal, September 28 2026: The BJP Manipur Pradesh has claimed that the Congress party's allegations of misconduct in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls are baseless.

Addressing the media at Thambal Shanglen today, BJP Manipur general secretary K Saratkumar said the Election Commission of India (ECI) had, on September 26, dismissed a media report claiming differences within the Commission among Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi.

He claimed that the ECI conducted the SIR process transparently and the details of the exercise are available on its website.

Saying that some people have levelled baseless allegations against CEC Gyanesh Kumar and demanded his removal, he added that the charges, however, are unfounded.

The objections raised by the Congress party regarding the SIR in Manipur are all baseless, he said, claiming that no individuals were victimised during the exercise.

He accused the Congress party of attempting to mislead the people.
