Imphal, April 28 2024:
The World Meitei Organisation (WMO) has said that they will set up a women's wing to diversify its functional areas and also counter the misleading narrative of Kuki narco-terrorists targeting Meiteis.
Speaking to the media at its office at Langol today, WMO president Chingtham Chandramani claimed that a section of Kuki people have been scheming to distort the history of Manipur using various means like commemorating Anglo-Kuki War which never took place.
He went on to claim that a section of Kuki people also have been projecting them as the sole victims of the ongoing crisis in Manipur and are planning to observe May 3 as a repression day despite the fact that it was them who first attacked Meeteis and their settlement areas on the evening of May 3, 2023 .
Saying that the Centre and the State Government haven't done anything to stop the misleading propaganda which is unfortunate, Chandramani continued that there is no sign of the Centre and the Manipur Government putting in efforts to end the conflict in Manipur.
The Meitei people have to learn how to use guns for self defence as the Government at both the Centre and the State have failed to protect them, he said.
Chandramani continued that they will counter the propaganda of Kuki narco-terrorists which put all blame of the conflict on the Meiteis.
Meanwhile, Chandramani said that the seed of division among the hill and valley people in Manipur was sown by the British.
Claiming that the Central Government has been employing the same divide and rule policy between the hill and valley people, he alleged that the ongoing conflict between Meetei and Kuki people is a fallout of the Indian Government's ploy to create disunity among the people.
