Numerous organisations demanding unconditional release of TIPS functionaries L Umakanta and Y Thabi and AMMOCOC auditor Md Hussain Ahmad continues to flood in.
Decrying detention of the human rights activists and police failure to substantiate charges levelled against them, Manipur Students' Association, Delhi pledged its unflinching support to any agitation launched by MEEKAL to press for the duo's release without any conditions.
Flaying attitude of the Govt inspite of various section of the society crying for release of the TIPS functionaries and Hussain Ahmad, Kontha Women's Social Reformation and Development Society said its members burnt effigy of the CM yesterday.
Kakching Turel Wangma Meira paibi Lup, United Clubs Development Organisation (Santhel), Keikol Semgat Sagatpa Nupi Marup, yaingangpokpi Meira Paibi Lup and lamlongei Yaipha Thouda Nupi Marup also decried the trio's detention and warned of mass movement to protest Government's inaction.
Joining the release chorus, Manipur People's party and Zeliangrong Students' union, Imphal Area also demanded unconditional release of Maimom (O) Memcha Leima, Irom (O) Kamala Leima and Takhellambam Tombi leima.
The latter three were arrested while protesting to demand release of the TIPS functionaries.
Meanwhile, passenger carriers would cease service along the imphal-Kangchup route on September 25 from 5 am till 6 pm in solidarity with the ongoing agitation for release of the TIPS functionaries, informed Manipur Transport Joint Co-ordinating Committee.
