Imphal, June 19 2011:
The Naga People's Organisation (NPO) Senapati, Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO) and Zeliangrong Baudi, Manipur (ZBM) have apprised the Prime Minister of India on the 'alternative arrangement' model adopted during the Naga People's Convention of July 1, 2010 held in Senapati.
The convention had decided to sever all ties with the Government to protest the election to the Autonomous District Councils.
In separate memoranda submitted to the Prime Minister the NPO, CNPO, TNL and ZBM said, "We have great hope in your Government under your leadership to bring about an alternative arrangement for the Nagas in Manipur" .
The organisations also stated that public meetings reiterated "our demand and request your good office to translate it into reality with sincerity and political will and thereby usher in peace and stability" .
The CNPO, ZBM, TNL and NPO expressed their heart-felt gratitude to the Prime Minister for taking keen interest in the Indo-Naga peace talk and at the same time for initiating the tripartite talk between New Delhi, United Naga Council and the Government of Manipur "pertaining to UNC's demand for an alternative arrangement outside the Government of Manipur since the Naga people have severed all political ties with the Government of Manipur as per the declaration of the Naga People's Convention (NPC) on July 1, 2010" .
