Bomb explodes near FCI godown

Imphal, September 18 2024: An explosion suspectedly caused by a lathode bomb at around 12.50 am today disturbed peace at Sangaiprou Mamang Leikai prompting locals to organise a sit-in protest today.

During the protest demonstration, Meira Paibis and locals vehemently condemned the incident and urged police to nab the persons involved.

Meira Paibis said the explosion was suspectedly caused by a lathode bomb fired at the Leikai.

The bomb landed and exploded on the roadside near FCI/FCS Godown damaging a fence nearby.

The incident has caused panic among the local folks and raised safety concerns.

Had the bomb fallen in any of the houses nearby, it could have hurt or killed innocent people, said Meira Paibis.

The authorities concerned including the police should investigate the incident and arrest the culprits involved, they said.

Sangaiprou Apunba Nupi Lup and Sangaiprou Naharol Club organised the sit-in protest.

Meanwhile, Sangaiprou Kom Leikai, in a statement, has refuted a rumour that the lathode bomb may have been fired from their locality.

Such rumours and claims are unfounded and very unfortunate, said the Kom Leikai, urging people not to spread false rumours on social media.
