Imphal, July 14: This year�s selection test for selection of government nominees for pursuing MBBS/BDS courses at RIMS and other medical institutions will be held tomorrow at six centres in Imphal city.

Altogether 2721 candidates including 1356 female candidates will be appearing in the selection test, due to begin at 11 am tomorrow.

The locked trunk, in which the mother copy of the question papers for the examination had been kept at the Lamphel police station, was retrieved this afternoon and opened by the chairperson of the selection committee, Henry K Heny, at the RD Wing, medical directorate in the presence of media persons.

Other members of the selection committee include Dr.Ch Chandramani Singh, Director Health services, who is member secretary, and RK Nimai, special secretary, finance.

Multiple photocopies of the mother copy are being taken tonight at the RD Wing to be distributed as question papers to the candidates tomorrow.

The R D Wing Complex is now under strict police guard, and as a precautionary measure against any leakage of questions, those engaged inside will not be allowed to emerge until the examination is over tomorrow.

They include the three members of the selection board, and altogether 14 subordinates.

The telephone lines of the complex have also been disconnected, and cordless telephones have been banned inside the complex.

The 2721 candidates to whom admit cards have been issued include 2009 general candidates, 619 ST candidates, 63 SC candidates, 15 wards of ex-servicemen/armed forces, and 15 sportspersons.

The answer paper will be sealed as soon as the examination is over and kept in police custody, sources said.

Evaluation will start on Monday, and results will be announced as soon as it is completed.

It may be mentioned here that only 60 candidates will be selected through tomorrow�s test.

34 seats will be provided admission at RIMS under the state quota, while rest will be placed outside the state.

Another report said out of the state�s due pro rata contribution to RIMS totaling Rs.9.38 crores, the state government has sanctioned Rs.2, 39, 50,000 only today.

The expenditure borne by the state for one student admitted at RIMS works out to be around Rs.
