Imphal, May 05: With a fervent appeal to all Komrem people not to do anything detrimental to the integrity Komrem tribe, the Komrem People's Army (KPA) has absolved the president of Kom Union.

Speaking to media persons at a location in Churachandpur district today, KPA operations and mobilisation commander Rengthoi said that the KPA came across existence of a body called Kom Union (KU) when the party is working for unification and development of Komrem tribe.

Following the discovery, an investigation was launched into the activities of the KU.

In the course of investigation, it was found that the KU has no documents of its own, said Rengthoi.

Now it has been confirmed that the KU was established by some elements in their personal interests, he asserted while claiming that the KU president has also apologised for holding his post.

Taking part in the press meet, KU president M Mangloler confessed that the Kom Union was set up by some individuals without the mandate of Komrem people.

He also pledged not to do anything without consent of the people in future.

He further disclosed that the Kom Union was set up by L Khupler of Khongnangpokpi, K Leipukngam of MG Avenue, K Toneithang of Tepui, K Samuel of Khongnangpokpi, S Roberth of Lower Keirap and S Achon of Upper Khoirentak on February 11 this year.

Later he was inducted as president of the Union, he added.

Mangloler also declared that he has resigned from his post of KU president with immediate effect.

Reiterating his appeal not to do anything detrimental to the integrity of Komrem, Rengthoi also asked all other organisations not to interfere in matters pertaining to Komrem people.
