Imphal, July 28: The withdrawal of ceasefire territory extension from Manipur has been hailed by the Eastern Students' Club, Nongmeibung.

The youth organization also lauded the mass participation by people of Manipur from various communities and termed the supreme sacrifices of 17 persons as a glorious episode in the history of Manipur.

The organization also demanded immediate release of all detained persons in connection with the agitation against the ceasefire extension.

They also appealed to those persons who fled their homes apprehending violence during the agitations to return back to restore the age old relationships amongst the various communities and to usher the State in a new era of friendship and harmony.

A meeting organized jointly by All Manipur Young Pioneers' Organization, Keirao sector and AISF Keirao Zonal Council to discuss the aftermath of withdrawal of ceasefire extension from Manipur cautioned the people not to indulge in wild celebrations and instead concentrate on reviving the strained relationships amongst the people of Manipur.

The meeting attended by public and leaders of many communities also put stress on the amendment of Constitution for safeguarding the territorial integrity of Manipur.

All India Students' Federation, Bishnupur District Council while lamenting the wild celebrations by the people stated that it will be a mockery of the supreme sacrifice by 17 persons for the territorial integrity of Manipur.

United Muslims Organization, an apex body of the Muslim community of Manipur dedicated the success of the people, by compelling the Indian Government to rollback the ceasefire extension from Manipur, to the unity of the people of Manipur irrespective of caste, creed and religion and the selfless sacrifices by its citizens under the able leadership of United Committee Manipur.

UMMO, however, urged UCM not to bask in the glory and instead conduct seminars and debates to introspect on the genuineness of the announcement of the Indian Government to dispel any doubts besetting the minds of the people.

UMMO also demanded that a white paper on the issue be tabled by the Government to show its sincerity to the people of Manipur.

Meanwhile a meeting, organized by United Committee, Yairipok was held today at Yairipok Bazar to discuss on how and on what ground the ceasefire extension was withdrawn from Manipur.

Eramdam Manipur Mothers Association, which is staging a dharna since July 24 today demanded a special provision in the Constitution to safeguard Manipur's territory.

United Committee Keishamthong will organize a programme to pay tributes to the 17 martyrs on July 30 from 9 am to 4 pm.
