ILPS demand reverberates

As a part of demanding Inner Line Permit System in the State of Manipur, sit in protests were held at various parts of Yairipok, Khongman Okram Chuthek, Ramlal Paul Hr Sec School, Central Institute of Science, Keishamthong High School and Johnston Hr Sec School etc.
During the sit in protest held at Yairipok Khoirom Makha Leikai, the secretary of the Khoirom Nupi Marup Haobam Ibeton asserted that the Govt of Manipur should implement ILP system in Manipur so as to check influx of outsiders and migrant labours in the State.
She further mentioned that the movement is based on the larger interest of the people of Manipur.
However, the leaders spearheading the movement should should give the habit of closing agitation when the goal is within sight of achievement.
Ibeton Devi further maintained that the women agita- tors are ready to sacrifice their life for the future generation of the people of the State.

Similar sit in protest was also held at Khongman Okram Chuthek.
In the protest, one participant Ningom- bam Bimola expressed that there are large numbers of outsiders in Manipur interfering in every sphere of econo- mic activities thereby creating existential threat to the survival of the entire indigenous populace.
Bimola further asserted that the Govt of Manipur should respond in accordance with the intention of the people and if the Govt fails to do so, another June 18 like uprising cannot be ruled out.
In the mean time, womenfolk of Kongba Nandeibam Leikai has also organised sit in protest there in which Konsam Ongbi Shantibala Devi said that implementation of ILP system is necessary in the State considering the rising demographic imbalances between indigenous people and outsiders.
She also condemned the police atrocities meted out to the students who were took part in the demand for implementation of ILP in Manipur and demanded to release the 28 women and students agitators who are now in the jail.
Moreover, the Students' Wing JCILP has also organised sit in protest at Keisamthong Keithel in which the students of Ramlal Paul Hr Sec School, Central Institute of Science, Keishamthong High School and Johnston Hr Sec School took part.
Women activists of JCILPS, Manipur also staged a sit-in-protest today at Konjeng Hajari leikai demanding the implentation of ILP in the State at the earliest.
The JCILPS strongly condemned the casual attitude and response of the State Government regarding the issue.
Kumudini Devi, JCIPS' active worker demanded severe punishment of the police officers involved in flailing ILPS student protestors.
The future of Manipuris, she added, is gloomy if ILP is not enforced.
