Rallies demand repeal of Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025

Thoubal/Kakching, April 15 2025: Various Muslim organisations took Out mass rallies protesting against the passing of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025 along with demanding immediate repeal of the Act.

Joint Co-ordinating Body of Mayai Lambi, Including Wabagai Kendra on Monday organised a protest rally from Mayang Imphal Bengoon Shakti Khongnang till Bengoon Bazar.

Similarly, a protest rally participated by thousands was organised by All Yairipok Ulema Body in collaboration with club organisation of Yairipok on Tuesday denouncing the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025.Agitators from various parts of Yairipok including Phoud-en, Wangkhem Muslim, Singa, Tulihal, Toupokpi, Bishnunaha Muslim, Bamol Leikai, Kekru, Heitroipokpi, Shikhong Sekmai, Leikol, Ningthounai, Changamdabi, Mayai Keithel, Malom and Ngariyan gathered at Yairipok Azad ground to register their opposition to the Act and prayed for its repeal.

Another mass protest rally was organised by Anjuman of Sangaiyumpham Part 1 and 2*in collaboration with local club organisations on Tuesday.

People from Sangaiyumpham Part 1 and Part 2 pro testing against the Act took out rallies which culminated at Sangaiyumpham Idgah with a public meeting.

On the other hand, a protest rally, jointly organised by All Sora Clubs' Co-ordinating Committee (ASCCOC); Anjuman Nasul Islam, Sora and Jamiat Ulam-I-Hind, Sora, was taken out opposing the Act on Tuesday, which commenced from Sora Mamang Leikai Nongsha Bazar and after passing through Sora Bazar stretch of NH 102 ended at Sora High School playground.

Similarly, Muslims residing in various areas of Mayai Lambi took out a protest rally at Mayang Imphal Bengoon on Tuesday opposing Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025.The rally which started from Satikhongnang ground, Mayang Imphal and ended at Bengoon Keithel was organised by Joint Co-Ordination Body of Mayai Lambi including Wabagai Kendra with support from local bodies.

During the rallies, the agitators chanted slogans and held placards such as 'We oppose Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025'; 'Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025 cannot be enforced'; 'Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025 should be repealed'; 'Protect WAQF properties'; 'Protect Muslim Rights'; 'Save Masjid, Save Qabristans, Save Madaaris'; 'Save the Constitution' 'Stop Politicising Waqf'; 'Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025 is against Islam'; 'Waqf property belongs to Allah, not government'; 'No grabbing of Waqf land'; ' Don't challenge Islam'; 'BJP down, down, Narendra Modi Down Down, Amit Shah Down Down' .
